Section III - HEALTH & FIRST AID INFORMATION

INHALATION: Coughing, choking or wheezing may result from inhalation of powder. If symptoms are troublesome or prolonged remove to fresh air and seek medical advice.

INGESTION: When in powder, wash mouth with plenty of water, drink plenty of water, do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention. If in solution, rinse mouth out with water and drink water.

EYE CONTACT If contact does occur the eye should be flushed with water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.

SKIN CONTACT: Wash with plenty of water and soap. Is non irritating at 1% solution.

OTHER HEALTH INFORMATION:  Moderately irritation powder.

UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS:  Release of sulfur dioxide gas may occur if Virkon is involved in a fire.  Fire-fighting personnel should wear breathing apparatus.

CONTROL MEASURES: Handle so as to minimize the release of dust.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Use with adequate ventilation.  Wear dust mask approved for fine particles.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING: Wear gloves (PVC with powder and rubber with solutions) and protective clothing when using this product.

EYE PROTECTION: Wear safety goggle eye protection when handling this product.

 

Section VIII - ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Ensure that any leaks or spills are cleaned up.

SPILL OR LEAK PRECAUTIONS: Sweep up powder carefully.

WASTE DISPOSAL: May usually be disposed of by dilution with large quantities of water and flushing away. Seek the advice of a professional disposal service. Ensure disposal method complies with local, provincial and federal regulations governing disposal.

 

Section IX - REGULATORY CONTROLS

DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION: Not regulated under the Transport of Dangerous Goods Act.
