Section III - HEALTH & FIRST AID INFORMATION

INHALATION: Irritating. Remove patient to fresh air.

INGESTION: Toxic. Give patient water and seek medical attention immediately.

EYE CONTACT: Irritates, may stain. Rinse eyes with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.

SKIN CONTACT: Irritates, stains. Extended contact may cause dermatitis. Wash affected area thoroughly. Seek medical attention if dermatitis develops.

OTHER HEALTH INFORMATION: Crystal violet is a suspected carcinogen.

APPEARANCE AND COLOUR: dark purple liquid with an alcohol-like smell.

CONTROL MEASURES: Store in a cool dark place.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Self contained breathing apparatus if handling large quantities or if splashing is expected.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING: Use chemical-resistant gloves.

EYE PROTECTION: Wear safety goggles if splashing is likely.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Use in a well ventilated area.

SPILL OR LEAK PRECAUTIONS: Wear gloves and safety goggles, tranfer to salvage container for disposal.
