In Canada TMS is an approved pharmaceutical for use in salmonids. Products that are regulated by Health Canada as a drug are not subject to the provisions of WHMIS as they pertain to MSDS and labeling (see the excerpt below)

...the provisions of this regulation in respect of a supplier label and a material safety data sheet do not apply where the controlled product is an ...drug or food within the meaning of the Food and Drug Act (Canada). (section 2.(2)b.)

Products regulated under the Food and Drug Act will have approved labeling and/or package inserts.

Safety and Handling

TMS is generally considered to be of low hazard, nonetheless it should be handled with caution. It is important that TMS, and all pharmaceuticals be handled in a safe manner using normal precautions.

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Use in well ventilated areas. Wear gloves, dust mask, safety goggles and protective clothing. Wash exposed surfaces well with soap and water after use. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use. Do not breathe dust.

First Aid

Always consult your First Aid officer and procedures, and a health care professional if you have any questions or concerns.

May be harmful by inhalation, ingestion or absorption. In case of contact with:

Eyes: immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Skin: immediately wash with soap and water

Inhalation: immediately remove to fresh air, if not breathing give artificial respiration or oxygen.

Ingestion: give copious quantities of water.

Medical attention should be sought, especially if any irritation persists.

Treat exposure as exposure to a topical anesthetic, such as benzocaine.  symptoms may include numbness to mouth and lips.
