Syndel International Inc. appointed Alpharma AAHD distributor for North America

We are pleased to announce that as of October 1, 1999, Syndel International Inc. will be taking over the sales and marketing responsibility for Alpharma’s AAHD (Aquatic Animal Health Division) products in the United States.

Syndel has been active in the sales and distribution of vaccines in North America since 1982. Syndel and Alpharma AAHD have developed a close knit relationship since Syndel was appointed as Canadian distributor in 1996. This new development will centralize the marketing and support of Alpharma products in Canada and the US. "By concentrating Alpharma’s Research & Development and Manufacturing resources in Norway, Alpharma will be able to respond more effectively to regional vaccine issues," said Trond Enger, VP Sales and Marketing for Alpharma’s AAHD. "Syndel’s customer driven support system, accompanied by our continued commitment to resolving market specific problems will provide improved customer service in Canada and the United States."

"The addition of the AAHD product line, in conjunction with Syndel’s Aqua Life® product line, will complement our North American Marketing Strategy," said Dr. Jim Brackett, General Manager for Syndel International Inc. "We are excited about the opportunity to service more of our customers in a more efficient manner."

Alpharma’s office in Bellevue will continue to support US customers until October 1, 1999.

Alpharma AAHD Overhalla facility has permanent GMP approval

It is with pride that Alpharma announces that their Overhalla, Norway facility has now been given a permanent GMP approval (Good Manufacturing Practices) by European Union (VMD) as well as Norwegian authorities. GMP approval means that the facility has been benchmarked and approved to the world’s most stringent standards for pharmaceutical production. This approval is possible because of significant, long term investments in equipment and technology coupled with the continuous efforts of highly qualified and dedicated employees.

Following the completion of the current product transfer from Bellevue to the state-of-the-art facility in Overhalla in Norway, production in Bellevue will be phased out and all production of fish vaccines, including the new product line, will be concentrated at the Overhalla plant.

Alpharma Inc. (NYSE:ALO) is a multinational pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures and markets specialty generic and proprietary human pharmaceutical and animal health products. The Aquatic Animal Health Division serves, and will continue to serve, the rapidly expanding aquaculture industry as the world’s leading producer of vaccines to immunize farmed fish against disease.

Syndel International Inc. is a privately held Canadian company, founded in 1977, that has developed and marketed high quality aquaculture chemicals and pharmaceuticals, worldwide, for more than 20 years. With the AQUA LIFE® line of products, Syndel specializes in cost-effective aquatic animal health solutions for reproduction, disease prevention and treatment.
