Canadian approval for
furuncolosis & vibriosis vaccine
Alpharma has received sales approval for
the fish vaccine ALPHA JECT 4000 in Canada. The vaccine protects against
furuncolosis, vibriosis and cold water vibriosis (also known as 'Hitra
disease') in salmon.
"We are the first European vaccine
manufacturers that have had a fish vaccine approved on the attractive
Canadian aquaculture market," said Director Morten Nordstad.
Alpharma has also previously had fish
vaccines in Canada, but these have been manufactured in the USA. ALPHA
JECT 4000 is produced at Alpharma's facility in Overhalla,
Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.
Alpharma has now received approval for its
market-adapted fish vaccines in both Chile and Canada during the last
four months.
The Canadian approval is important, and
Alpharma can now offer fish vaccines in all the important salmon and
trout markets and is better equipped to service global aquaculture
players' needs," said Marketing Director Jan Oppen Berntsen. |
