Sterilisation

Before use, the Fishjector should be sterilised as follows:

  1. Remove the PVC grip with a counterclockwise quarter turn and set aside (DO NOT STERILISE THE GRIP).
  2. Place in distilled or previously boiled water (to prevent furring) and pump to fill the syringe.
  3. Wrap in clean white cloth with vaccine feed tube and any needles to be used. BOIL FOR TEN MINUTES.
  4. Pump out water and refit handle.

Connect Vaccine Tube

Fit the vaccine feed tube to the Rear Connector 12. Fit a sterilised feed needle to the opposite end of the feed tube and pierce container diaphragm. Fit air vent needle to container. Fit injection needle to the Luer Lock 1 turning clockwise to lock in place. Operate trigger until vaccine flows from the needle.

Setting the dose

For the MK1 (0.1 - 1.0 variable dose injector) the dose is set by twisting the dose knob at the base of the grip. It will click into precise dose settings each complete turn. Read the dose setting against the extreme end of the pistol grip; the window allows a free view of the dose setting.

After Use

Thorough cleaning is essential. Immediately after use, pump through plenty of hot soapy water, followed by clean water. Then remove piston after detaching from the crosspegs of the side arms. Smear the 'O'-ring with liquid paraffin or castor oil and replace. IMPORTANT: DO NOT INTERCHANGE PISTONS BETWEEN SYRINGES as each one is individually calibrated for accuracy to its own instrument.

Kaycee Parts List

Some of the parts are different for different models - be sure to specify the model when ordering any parts. If after much wear, there is leakage from the base of the handgrip, remove the 'O' ring part 19 and fit with a new one.

A spares kit is available for routine maintenance requirements.

Spares kits contain :

  • 1 x delivery valve - part 4
  • 1 x suction valve - part 5
  • 2 x valve springs - part 3
  • 2 x fibre washers - part 2
  • 1 x 'O' ring - part 19

Troubleshooting

Your Fishjector is designed and built to give a high degree of dose accuracy. If dose accuracy should fail:

  1. Check for residual matter stuck in the valves
  2. Remove the Rear Connector (part 12)
  3. Do this over a tray or box to catch any small parts
  4. Make sure valve seat is clean and that the semi-spherical Suction Valve (part 5) and Valve Spring (part 3) are clean and undamaged
  5. Unscrew Luer Lock Stem (part 1) and carefully lift out Valve Spreing (part 3) with a pin or tweezers. Directly behind the spring is the Delivery Valve (part 4) which can now be shaken out of the Main Body. Clean and reassemble. Remember that semi-spherical Suction Valve (part 5) fits behind Rear Connector (part 12) and the conical Delivery Valve (part 4) fits into the front of the Main Body behind the Luer Lock Stem. THESE POSITIONS ARE IMPORTANT! CHECK WITH DIAGRAM AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE CORRECT OR YOUR FISHJECTOR WILL NOT WORK ACCURATELY!
