PARASITE-S
PARASITE-S is exclusively distributed
in Canada by Syndel International Inc. for aquaculture

PARASITE-S is effective in
controlling external protozoa and monogenetic trematodes on salmonid fish,
and for the control of fungi on salmonid eggs. |
|
RECOMMENDED DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION METHOD. |
- PARASITE-S
is effective for the
control of external parasites on salmonid fish. Organisms controlled
include the protozoa; lchthyophthirius spp. ('lch'), Chilodonella
spp., Costia spp., Scyphidia spp., Epistylis spp., and Trichodina
spp, and for the mongenetic trematodes; Cleidodiscus spp.,
Gyrodactylus spp., and
Dactylogyrus spp.

- PARASITE-S
is applied to tanks and
raceways as follows:
- Turn off the water supply and provide
aeration to prevent oxygen depletion
- Apply the appropriate amount of
PARASITE-S and thoroughly dilute and mix to assure equal
distribution of PARASITE-S.
- Treat for up to 1 hour for fish
- Drain the solution and refill the tank
with fresh, well aerated water
- Treatment may be repeated daily until
parasite control is achieved
- PARASITE-S
is applied to ponds as
follows:
- Apply greatly diluted PARASITE-S
to the pond evenly using a pump, sprayer or other suitable device to
ensure even distribution.
- Allow PARASITE-S to dissipate
naturally
- Single treatments usually control most
parasites but may be
repeated in 5 to 10 days if needed
- Treatment for lchthyophthirius
should be made at 2 day intervals until control is achieved
- PARASITE-S
is use for salmonid eggs as
follows:
- Apply concentrations of 1000 to 2000
ppm. The most widely used concentration is about 1670 ppm (618 ppm
active ingredient)
- Apply as constant flow to water supply
of incubating facilities for 15 minutes
- Repeat as often as necessary to prevent
growth of fungi
- PARASITE-S
should not be used if the
water temperature is above 27°C, when a heavy bloom of phytoplankton is
present or when the dissolved oxygen is less than 5 pprn.

when a heavy bloom of phytoplankton is present or when the dissolved
oxygen is less than 5 ppm.
- Under some conditions, fish may be
stressed by normal treatment concentrations. Heavily parasitized or
diseased fish often have a greatly reduced tolerance for PARASITE-S.

| PRESENTATION |
- PARASITE-S is available as a liquid
in 208 litre drums
|
| COMPOSITION |
- Active Ingredient Formaldehyde, 37-40%
- Other Ingredients Methanol, 12-15%
|
|
STABILITY & STORAGE |
- Store PARASITE-S indoors away from
direct sunlight, heat, spark and open flames, and ventilate the storage
area. Do not subject PARASITE-S to temperatures below 4.4°C.
PARASITE-S subjected to temperatures below 4.4°C causes the
formation of paraformaldehyde, a substance which is toxic to fish.
Paraformaldehyde can be recognized as a white precipitate at the bottom
or on the walls of the container. The recommended storage temperature is
15°C. Do not expose to direct sunlight.
|
| SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS |
- PARASITE-S
is a potential cancer
hazard and may cause allergic skin reactions, respiratory sensitization,
reproductive disorders, lung damage, liver damage, kidney damage, brain
and nervous system damage. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing.
Use with adequate ventilation and avoid breathing vapour. Wash
thoroughly after handling.
- Tolerance to PARASITE-S may vary
with strain and species of fish. A small number of each lot of fish to
be treated should be used to check for any unusual sensitivity to
PARASITE-S before proceeding
